Social Inclusion and Local Economic Development for Poverty Reduction
UNDP connects the national government and local communities to global best practices and sponsors innovative pilot projects that nourish economically and environmentally sustainable livelihoods focusing upon job creation. Emphasis in projects and advocacy work is on stimulating local economic development through business support, social inclusion of minorities, as well as on building public-private partnerships for overcoming social exclusion.
In the context of Bulgaria’s commitments to EU accession, the fight against poverty and social exclusion has become one of the main priorities of the Bulgarian Government. UNDP support to poverty reduction and social inclusion in Bulgaria falls into two broad categories: Employment generation and Capacity Development. To influence change in Bulgaria UNDP works through Pilot Projects, Policy Advice, and Advocacy.
