National Human Development Report 2001

The Report hinges on the shareholder metaphor: each citizen has a share in society and influences decisions impacting on his or her life.

The National Report “Citizen Participation in Governance: from Individuals to Citizens” 2001 warns: citizens’ desire to participate in governance is far bigger than its actual manifestations. The report’s key message is that overcoming citizen’s isolation and creating an environment conducive to their efficient interaction with authorities are two prerequisites for the achievement of consensus-based governance and sustainable development.
