Civic Education in the Spirit of the United Nations - our first step! The project was financially supported by the EU PHARE Program through the Civil Society Development Foundation. Within the frame of the project in 1999 we created a national network of United Nations School Clubs acting in 17 towns in Bulgaria.
As a result of the popularity of our initiative, 31 UN School Clubs now exist!

The UN school clubs were created as independent sections able to develop various initiatives related to global issues such as Human Rights, Conflict Resolution, Environment, Refugees, Hunger, etc.

UNA of Bulgaria supports and provides young UN volunteers with useful information. One of the ways we encourage their work is the organization of and participation in Model United Nations (MUN), a very popular simulation exercise conducted all over the world, and takes place both on the national as well as on the international level.

The International MUN in the Hague, Netherlands, is one of the most famous. This method of alternative education opens the complicated world of the decision-making process to youth. During the exercise students learn basic diplomatic and conflict resolutions skills, finding themselves involved in simulated disputes on issues of real importance.

UNA of Bulgaria sets up School MUNs for the United Nations Bulgaria School clubs each year.
