Seven UN school clubs in Sofia and the UNA in Bulgaria set up
a meeting between students and NGOs in May 2000. The formal occasion for this project was the Millennium Forum held in New York in late May. The world Forum gathered together thousands of NGOs to discuss the global issues in the new millennium.

Our intention was to organize a similar meeting on the local level. Thus we wanted to encourage Bulgarian youths and NGOs to discuss and work together on local and global problems.

More than 30 NGOs took part in the Forum in Sofia. The Meeting was held in three sections related to the global topics: Development, Environment and Human Rights.  The NGO representatives expressed their strong will to work with the students. At the end of the Forum a Declaration was adopted and sent to the Millennium Forum in New York.
